Double Oven

Drum sessions with The Loving Oven's Kana-Chan

Rumours are circling The Loving Oven camp that, rather than having split up after their 4th gig, they've been hard at work on their long-awaited debut album, tentatively titled, The Parson's Bisque. Work on the album began a year ago, and those close to the band are reporting that it has developed into an 18-track double album influenced by everyone from Maher Shalal Hash Baz to Syd Barrett.

TADA Music released the debut EP by Night Town Service late last week. We're happy to report it's been downloading steadily ever since. Night Town Service are a duo comprising Miwa Yahagi (vocalist with Tailor Made for a Small Room/ Lost in Found) and Jon Wilks (former guitarist with Cut Flowers and The Loving Oven, current editor of Japanzine). The duo met during an email interview for Japanzine, and commenced work by file sharing over the internet. They only met face to face for the first time after the recordings were complete.

This really is breaking news, so I'm just going to quote from our good friend Cal Lyall over at Soundispatch and Test Tone.

"Twenty of Japan's most unique guitarists converge on Super-Deluxe (Nishi-Azabu) for seven hours that reach deep into the avant-garde and improvisational crevices of this exciting music scene. The exceptional lineup breaks through the underground with sprinklings of folk, pop, humor, and even techno, guaranteeing much more than just joyous noise. Something for everyone with a curious and open-mind!"

Gaijin Sounds 2008

Japanzine Gaijin Sounds.png

Japanzine released their Gaijin Sounds CD today, and it's pretty impressive. The first thing that struck us was, "why hasn't anyone done this before?" It seems such an obvious compilation, but hats off to the good folk at Japanzine - they've done a great job on it. Better still, it's riddled with artists you can find here on the TADA website.

Also featuring Kabaddi Kabaddi, if you've not yet had the pleasure of hearing any of these bands, you really don't know what you're missing.

Baked in a Loving Oven

We're pleased to announce the first two tracks to have been prepared in a Loving Oven. We received delivery of these choice morsels only yesterday morning, and they're really up to scratch. Creamy and smooth, with an underlying hint of bitterness; this is music to soundtrack only the coolest of break-ups. Click here to start your free download.
