The Watanabes are a Tokyo indie rock band consisting of British brothers, Duncan and Selwyn Walsh on guitars and vocals, New Zealander Ashley Davies on bass and Flavio Jerome from Belgium on drums. They can be seen live at various dungeon-like live houses around Tokyo, and are currently working on their first album at KRH Studios in Harajuku. The Watanabes formed in the provincial paradise of Ehime in Spring 2005, when Duncan and Ashley began taking an interest in each other's music. However, a national Japan tour soon gave them a taste of band life in the capital, and by August 2007 The Watanabes were a Tokyo band. When not busy trying to fit in gigs, recording and practice, the members can often be heard having earnest band discussions over milkshakes at local Tokyo diners.
